Hello, I am looking for help because can't understand why my rcd is tripping. I have electric underfloor heating system in my kitchen

, which is controlled by 4iE thermostat. Thermostat power supplies from main house fuse box. It has its own 10 amp circuit breaker which is powered from rcd. Rcd shares more kitchen appliances and sockets. I tried to disconnect load from thermostat and it still trips rcd. Then tried to disconnect thermostat and rcd does not trip. Please help me what I am doing wrong?

What if I will only connect power to my thermostat from any other socket from my house and will see if it will make trip rcd or not? That would tell me that my thermostat is faulty?

If it's a new circuit the first thing to check is you have connected the neutral in the consumer unit into the correct busbar.

Apart from dodgy thermostat, only thing I can think of is that there is already a lot of earth leakage from your appliances on the same circuit. Try unplugging everything else (and switch off all other MCBs on same RCD) and see if it still trips.

Hello, I am looking for help because can't understand why my rcd is tripping.......

Sorry yes it is brand new installation carried out by myself.

It is tripping because a very very very very very small amount of electrical current is flowing to earth....

Could be something as small as 15ma  to 30ma...

If some relevant testing had been done with continuity tester, insulation resistance tester, RCD tester (trip times & ramp test)  before installation and after installation of the UF heating,

Prior to energising with power....

Then I some accurate answers and suggestions could be given....

But using the wire it and switch it on method, without correct testing,  just leaves us all guessing...

As there are numerous causes for the symptoms you are getting.

As has been suggested,  poor installation, faulty items, pre-existing latent defects on the installation, oversensitive RCD...

Or a multiple combination several factors..............

Or maybe because its Friday and your wearing blue socks????

:C

Unfortunately from what you have outlined you have carried out an installation without any form of tests being conducted - and unless you have an MFT and competence to use it, you are extremely unlikely to be able to identify the problem and fix it.

Please be aware that it could be in the heating matt under the floor - and if so you could be needing to lift the new floor to replace the matt.

Well unless I am missing something...apart from the lack of tests

you disconnected the load from the stat and it still trips....unlikely to be load

you disconnected stat from supply....does not trip.......most likely a faulty stat OR as said before it is connected to wrong neutral,in board

as said before...more testing and info needed

Hello, thank you everyone for answering. It was neutral connected to wrong bus. Really appreciate. Came back home read your advices and found what was wrong and fixed in 2 minutes. Thank you
