How come? Please state why they have never complied. They have been installed in their thousands.

selectivity mainly. few issue with it. one of them being 536.4.1.6
In the event of an earth fault, the earth fault current may be lower than the instantaneous tripping current of the
downstream OCPD. In this case, the upstream RCD will trip and selectivity may not be achieved. Therefore, when
selectivity between RCDs and downstream OCPD is required, RCBOs shall be used and selectivity requirements
according to Regulation 536.4.1.4 shall be applied.

and then there is the more commonly quoted 314

(i) avoid danger and minimize inconvenience in the event of a fault

a fault will take out half the circuits, not a single circuit. you havent minimized the inconvenience. but the main issue i do have with this one is its wording, 'dividied into circuits'. is the RCD feeding the MCB's a 'circuit'?

as for 'they have been installed in their thousands', well yes they have, and many thousands of installations also have connections wrapped in tape (at best), just because its ben done doesnt mean its correct or safe, just too many 'electricians' dont bother to read & understand the regs they are supposed to be working to
 
Fuseboards have not been fitted this century. He clearly said (correctly) it was a consumer unit.
fuses are still recognised by BS7671 and still installed. maybe not an old wylex 3036 board in houses anymore, but blanket statements of 'fuseboards have not been fitted this century' is simple false. BNO boards are still full of fuses and imo would be considered a 'fuseboard'

fuse boards seem popular on solar farms oddly enough. Probably for reliability - they are used for control ccts / data links/ cooling fans in the sub stations.
