Thanks for this thought I better check, just means more work but I was quoting for a new bored anyway I just like to give a few options when possible..  The job should be straight forward enough as the house was only built in 99.

house was built in 1999 so would have been built to 16th edition regs.

16th Edition required all sockets that may power outside stuff to be RCD protected, so it was pretty normal under 16th to fit a split load Board with one half RCD protected for sockets, shower etc and the other half with no rcd for lights etc.

So if the original spark didn't fit any RCD, then he must have been a little creative with his interpretation of the regs.

 
Yeah that's why they have called me its a new'ish house but there is nothing labelled ether so they want the house protected and tested. Apparently when the house was getting built they had had trouble with who ever was carrying out the electrical work I'm not interlay sure what has happened.
