Would length of ciruit run, interfer with RCD tripping time. I.e time fault takes to reach RCD?

Welcome to the forum Monkeyblaine. The advice for testing RCD's in the on site guide suggests to do it as near to the RCD as possible with all loads disconnected, so the cable length will be disconnected.

Some misunderstanding about how current flows I think. There is no time lag between current starting to flow at a switch (or fault) and that current reaching the load (or RCD). Current flow is instantaneous along the whole length of the circuit. The electrons themselves move very slowly at just a few m/s though. Think of it like a long bar of steel - you push one end very slowly the other end moves at exactly the same time, but at the same slow speed.
