I've applied twice for a password for TotT section and had no response. So, any chance of copying that document to me at <username without the space> at aol dotty com? Thanks in advance.

Very small number have failed quality checks by overheating (4 in 1.5 Million according to Electrium Tech guy yesterday morning)

They would have not done recall he said but Siemans (now owners of Electrium) have more stringent standard and decided to recall.

Long as You put it back together neatly ROTFWLROTFWL

As an ex Automotive R&D Engineer who has conducted many DFMEAs, I find Electriums (reported) stance quite appalling.

In a DFMEA this (potential) failure would generate the following scores:

detection: 10

occurance: 7

severity: 10

The RPN would thus be 700. With a failure chance at 1 in 400,000 and with a severity of 10 (potential death due to effect of failure) then action would be demanded by any proffesional project management system. If there were no action and a death were to occure the company would be ripped to shreds in court.

Bear in mind that the occurance chance for the failure of the fuel tank 'o' rings on the shuttle were 1 in 1million, but they had the detection score at just 2 (far too low, with hindsight), so with a low RPN no action was taken to redesign or put in place 100% preflight checking.

Whats also damning about the above statement is that Electrium are effectively stating (allegedly) that their standards are lower, but with no indication of how much lower. Just how much worse than 1:400,000 do the odds have to get before Electrium spring into action?

And unlike Toyota, you will notice that Electrium are doing their best to keep this as quiet as possible. No publicity of any note, it's all being handled "through the trade" (the Screwfix homepage link excepted).

I don't really think electrium are keeping it low key. They could put an ad in every news paper or on tv, now how many people do you think know they have a 6amp wylex NSB breaker in their homes? And then expecting them to check its date by removing it?

Its kept in the trade as thats who mainly buys and knows about them and how to check them safely.

Yet Electrium seem unconcerned as to whether or not the people that initially fit them are competent or not.....

True, I noticed today that they include dual wiring colour stickers, RCD test stickers but no Inspection sticker! No use for it ey?

Actually found 3 MCBs on recall list today.

All 16 Amp in same Off peak C U fitted last July. Looked Ok but good to have replaced them, Storage heater loads pretty testing for over heat problem!

Have completed 12 locations and these are the only ones located so far.

Have left some of my cards with all my local Wholesalers, B&Q +Electrifix with offer to check and replace any MCBs on list Free of Charge for any one who enquires.
