Hello. Just wondering what the switch is for on a relay? The one that rates from say 1a, 1.3a, 1.5a, 1.8a for example?

Cheers

To change the current setting that is being monitored?............If it is a monitoring relay/switch

Thought so. Its a Overload relay with start and stop switch.

But cuts out after 5 Seconds on 1a and then Cutts out about 32 seconds on 1.8a.

Think they supplied the wrong relay

What do you mean steps. Basically ask the wholesaler to do a like for like swap. But the only difference is the little switch at the bottom on the original one is max 15a but with 3a-8a. And the one i was given was 15a but 1a- 1.8a

Both rated 415 v at 5.5kw

Go on steps what 5ww story is this?
whaaaaatttttt?

your saying you've not come across this before?

where you get called to a fault that keeps tripping the MCB,

'well the previous electrician has changed the fuse size twice and its still tripping because there are too many lights on at once'

:shakehead

what was the original one set at?

the 15A is the switching load,

also, may be an issue if its AC1 , AC2 or AC3

Ive had this a few times with contactors that have been replaced by apparently 'like for like'

Yes 15a switching load. It was set at around 3a
what sort of load?

AC1

AC2

AC3

what is the AC rating of the new relay, compared to the old one? it should be stamped on the side of it.

hang on,

you just said the old one was set at 3a

and you are wondering why the new one cuts out at 1.8a ?  :C

Also the new relay does not show 98,97,96,95 on the relay, they are just blank. The purple and red cable I have connected to nc. As it's not marked may they be the wrong way round?

No that's what I said and my original thought. The wholesaler said the next one up is 32a. I can't see how they have got it so wrong. The 1st time they gave me the wrong relay for the contactor as the start switch would not clip on to the side.

OK,

are you sure you actually know what you are describing here?

it really doesnt seem so TBH

as for telling me colours you are connecting,,,, I have stripey stair carpet, how many steps do I have until the first landing?

do you think that you could have the correct relay (contactor) with the wrong overload fitted to it ,also have you checked that the coil voltage is the same as the old one
