Hi There

Looking for some advice about reliability of certain brands of switchgear. I am building a distro on a value for money budget and was trying to use crabtree but they do not do certain things I need such as non specialised RCD's. I am looking for non chinese made kit at reasonable prices, I have heard about reliability issues with MK and would love to go with ABB or Merlin Gerin but they are well out of budget, what do people think of Hager

Thanks in advance

Quite a few members on here use Hager so I would think that they are OK.

Its one of those "you get what you pay for" scenarios really, there are reasons why some building engineers ask for certain makes of switchgear.

I know I would dearly love to use ABB but they are twice the price, I think I am going to go with Hager pity about Crabtree but they are wedded to the Starbreaker "system"

For Hager, check out one of this site's sponsors:

......Out of interest what was the problem with MK? I'd heard something about lack of room in terminals a while back. Only asking as I've just bought an MK 12-module insulated cu enclosure for a future all RCBO install. Only got it on a "whim" as they didn't have Hager in (I did actually ask too).

Well as you don't want Chinese MK will be out as there switchgear is made in China. Hager is reliable but you will get the odd one failing I have replaced a few RCD's and Mcb's that were Hager. I generally fit RCBO boards and think Moeller stuff is made in Austria well there RCBO's are in fact the Memshield 3 stuff is identical so is probably made in the same factory.
