Well i thought it was chuckle worthy.

When i was a 1st year apprentice one of the college exercises was to draw a circuit diagram of two way and 4 intermediate switches for the stairwell light in a lighthouse. The lecturer after-woods said ' I also would have accepted a single pull cord switch at the top with a long string attached'. Motto, the olden's are the gooden's

I have used those from TLC for our Xmas light display, there are remote light switches now are there not?

MK do one, but I don't know the range.

Sorry, but I laughed!. What about this:

EasySwitch Easy Switch Wireless Switches

Any way you could rig one of the "cheapo" kits out there:

Maplin Electronics : Remote Controlled Sockets

The plug and socket looks a bit nasty IMO, not exactly a permanent solution.

(Did think of running an extra core in the armoureds when I replace my garage and stable supplies for exactly this purpose (I'm scared of the "garden rapist"), but mixing circuits in the same cable etc?).

There are loads of RF switches available nowdays,, here are just a few of them

MK Echo

Click inels

Byron Easy switch

Personally I have used the Click Inels and I have the Byron Easy Switch (pendant and switch) over our dining room table and it's great - no trunking, no chasing, no redecorating

I have used the Byron kits in a large garden with no problems. The adapters & sockets were fitted in sheds and adaptable box's. This was a few years ago when remote control switching was very expensive and the Byron kits cheap. Still working fine today.

Cheapest option would be the Byron remote style sockets, I've used them a few times including once in an ip box under decking steps for three different sets of lights, wall lights, decking up lights and a flood light for lighting up the garden, individually switched via remote or simple to 'group' switch them if required

More expensive @

its from Maplin and you trust the 50m range bit?

TBH Ive never bought any downright tat from there, but I do think there descriptions are a bit fluid sometimes, to say the least.

I guess I'm a tad biased as I grew up with them back in the days when you could get PROPER electronic components from them like Denco coils and Jackson variable capacitors, ferrite rod anyone? Mind you they probably led to the demise of the small electronics shops. Now their thing seems to be radio controlled toys, iPhone accessories or if you're lucky a mixed bag of electrolytic caps for a tenner. To be fair I've never known an issue there taking things back. My mate just bought a NAS hard disc so he could access his content from the iPhone. Took it out of the box, played with it and decided it was too complicated for him. They took it back and refunded no problem. He then did the same thing AGAIN with an alternative NAS drive and they took that back as well (same shop)! They're obviously understanding if nothing else. I have the odd thing from them if in a hurry - just got a dual port serial card for instance to upgrade an old pc.

I've used a few of their 2-way and 3-way RF remote control kits and found them to work well. Their "building block" RF modules come from RF Solutions so not all bad.

Wise controls offer 4 Circuit or Single Circuit, dim and non-dim, range is at 250M clear, start deducting for walls, they also have booster for dropping in between wise box and remote to extend range.

I have not seen the 6 circuit mentioned in an earlier post, but they have PIR, time clocks also with a wide range of remote switches.

I think Mr Resistor London are sole importer and I have not seen them available elsewhere unless through merchant who purchase from Resistor, discount for trade is available.

They are aimed at controlling lighting loads or small loads, 4 circuit has 4 X 10A fast blow fuses within.

Sorry mate,

like I said I have only used them once and that was a light switching unit,,,, to switch a florrie after a roofer had put a screw through a switch drop and thankfully it worked straight away
