I need some advice on how bets to remove and eventually re-fit some PV panels.

They were installed by ING Solar about 5 years ago (they don't seem to be in business any longer)

We had 10 panels and an inverter in the loft (fairly standard i would think)

9 were located close together and 1 was in another location because it wouldn't fit with the others.

Were having some building work done on the house and need to remove 2 or 3 of the panels.

(The builders haven't dealt with PV before and neither has their electrician)

Can I (as a clued in, fairly knowledgeable DIYer) remove the panels?

I would guess that id need to

1) turn everything off including the inverter

2) disconnect the panels that need to be removed and pull their cables back to the inverter (they will be re-installed in a different location once the building work is complete)

3) physically remove the panels.

Anything else??

Cheers.

Steve.

If they are being reinstalled somewhere else then you will be needing someone else to install and sign off the new installation so the best route would be to get this person to do the removal as well. They could also maybe leave the remaining panels active so you won't lose anything whilst the buuilding work is being completed.

It's really not a DIY job tbh,

Not only are the panels clamped to each other, thereby removing any will risk the security of the others,

But, and it's a big BUT,

DC WILL KILL YOU a lot more efficiently than AC with NO WARNING or 2nd chance!!!
