Sharpend has answered this for me a dozen times and I've lost it .   He'll shout at me if I ask again .

My neighbour's lad is waiting to start at the local collage   and I wanted to give his dad  a list of the correct  courses he needs  .  No good him wasting a term on anything non applicable .

As I said before , it used to be simple .... C&Gs  A  followed by B   followed C   etc    .

I know theres Am2s  & NBC s  etc   ,  just need to know the  order in which to start , how many are there now  ?   and what they call them .

Obviously he'll need to do 18th  ...by the time  the college has opened up again  we'll be on the 20th  ed.

I promise to save it this time .

Oh boy!!

so start here https://www.cityandguilds.com/qualifications-and-apprenticeships/building-services-industry/electrical-installation/2365-electrotechnical-craft#tab=information

then next he’ll need the NVQ lvl3 C&G 2357 https://www.cityandguilds.com/qualifications-and-apprenticeships/building-services-industry/electrical-installation/2357-electro-technical-technology#tab=information&acc=level3
he will then onto the AM2

he will not need to do a separate 18th edition as this is taught within the core qualification.

at this point he will qualified.

where he goes from here is entirely his choice. 2391, 2396 etc.

I believe this to be correct? :C

Thank you Mr Sharp I'm noting it all down  .     Is AM2  the one you need to be working with an electrician  ?

They told him they will be finding him a placement with an electrical firm  ....I've heard that before ....good luck with that I thought  but didn't say anything .

No the AM2 is the final pass out exam if you like, fail it and you don’t get fully qualified.
I would have thought that if he is going to college then they’ll start him on the 2365 and after a few months -to give him time to bed in to the course etc the college would use its local links with firms to find him a placement. At least that’s how it used to be. :C

Thanks  .                    We had this with our part -time apprentice , many promises of job opportunities , none of which came to fruition .   No one takes on apprentices the way they used to  these days  do they ?     Had we not been retired we would have taken him on ourselves  , if it  had been 10 yrs ago  .
