Came back from a weekend in Redditch. Couldnt believe the amount of roadworks and delays on M6 northbound. really annoying. No sooner you got clear after waiting half an hr going nowhere, then its another lot, than again and again. 4 lots of roadworks in about 10 miles and not a soul in sight actually working!

What is going on

GRRRRRRRRRRRRR

GRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Sorry for the rant but had to get it out of my system somehow!

You were lucky to get up the M6 North at all from the Midlands, it seems to be constantly gridlocked. Especially M5 to M6 junction.
Nothing changes always been the same there.

M1 & M62 seems to have permanent 50mph speed limits on them from Wakefield to Huddersfield & Sheffield to Nottingham.

Yes but on a sunday afternoon? gridlocked and no movement for half an hour with no explanation on the radio and no sign of an accident!

I live right on the stretch of the M1 between Sheffield and Nottingham ex, what a depressing road to be on:(
I don;t find the M1 too bad, I travel up and down it at all sorts of times and day and night and apart from having to do 50 for some extraordinary long stretches it's always been pretty free moving. Only real major delays I had were Christmas day on the M1 at J24A-25.

Now I've said that I'll be sat in it for 4 hours Tuesday morning!

There used to be that statistic banded around, (Before the M6 Toll motorway opened), not sure if it is still true.....

that...............

the M6 between the M5 junction and junction 10, (Walsall), was the busiest stretch of Motorway in Europe!

I believe that was by volume of vehicles per lane passing along it!

Parts of the M25 had more vehicles but they also had more lanes..

so vehicles per lane was lower on the M25!!!! :( :|

Bit of a ****** if your misses wants you to take her to Ikea at Wednesbury (Jnc 9 M6!!) :_| :_| :_| :_|

Is that the bit where they are now doing alterations ready for the "Hard Shoulder" congestion relief usage, ie. Gantry's and pull in places?? ?:| :(

as per the bit on the M42?

TBH.....

I think i would rather be in a Motorway tailback...

than in Redditch!!!!!!!!!!!!

There was something going on with the hard shoulders, Good reason for being in Redditch - my son lives there.
