But what are you using it for that is so critical it HAS to be screened.

Obviously something more demanding than a tv / radio / DAB aerial, so I have to question the whole choice of connector.

Well of course, I had my house rewired last year in Russ Andrews mains.  Only cost £1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000.  So wouldn't want to put a weak link in the chain and fcuk up here....

Just fit that socket.  it WILL be fine.

Digital tv is a lot more tollerant to noise than analogue ever was.  If your signal is that marginal, then you don't want to be fitting any connectors at all.

And the isolated / non isolated thing makes no difference unless you are powering a sky tv link or a masthead amplifier, then it must be non isolated.

Thanks for the replies guys.

It is just for a TV....  But anything TV/aerial related I always check out this site for advice:

Here they discuss the importance of the screened / non-isolated thing:

So that's what made me think it would be a good idea....
A.T.V are great. I've gotten a few band specific aerials (damn great XB16A Yagis) from them rather than use the "wideband" tat you get from Maplin and the sheds etc. +1 on the above though, just bring a decent down lead(s) straight to the TV, cable/sat box etc through a plain wall plate (with plain hole/brush gear etc) if necessary. Much less loss and potential for interference then.
