Hi people,

New here, hope you can help.

Short circuit capacity ka, of an old re-wireable main fuse?

And do all kitchen down lights have to be fire rated? i`m pretty sure they do!

3036 can be anything between 1kA 2kA or 4kA usually,

depends on the building TBH, how many stories? and how many fire compartments to be more precise?

in a normal 2 story house probably not.

Old rewirable main fuse ? Are you tslking about a bs3036 fuse ? Or mainfuse?

For the price difference I'd fit fire rated as standard

Thank you for the responses,

It is a main re- wireable fuse, semi enclosed with asbestos,

Reason for question on down lights is there is only a 3 inch gap between false ceiling and origional,

most fire rated are about 6 inch deep.

you can get fire rated fittings that arn't so large. TBH i find those big fire rated ones a nightmare to fit into the ceiling, springs can be really tight and wreck a ceiling.

whats above the kitchen?

why are you bothered about the main fuse?

how do you know its re-wirable?

what BS is it to?

I do hope you havent pulled it out to check,,,,,,,,,

I think the main issue with the downlights would be air space rather than anything else, at 3" I would say deffo not enough clearance around them to dissapate heat.

Thank you all for your assistance.

The origional ceiling is intact so should be ok, but i will check out the snaplite fittings.

I need the information on the main fuse for the PIR Report, but not verified sounds good to me.

No, but first re-wireable fuse i have encountered and my software does not automaticly enter short circuit capacity, but it does for 1361s and 88s.

software doesnt enter the info automatically.... imagine if you had to write a PIR by hand!
