Hi,

I come across 10mm shower cable in a thin conduit sheath sort of thing. What is this. Is it because the cable was running through insulation, to keep it away from the insulation to avoid derating?

Thanks

Its not nowhere near as thick as conduit but just wondered what its for :put the kettle on

Is it a loft void with Polystyrene type insulation?

Cuz there are problems with chemical reactions between PVC of the cable and the Polystyrene.

I am guessing what you have got is just something to stop mutual deterioration of the cable..

Ref reg 522.5.3 Pg 99

Yes you will still need to take into account the insulation in any sizing calcs.
