according to BBC its 2 different systems

Two different contracts were given out by the government to install those networks. The Southern Communications Network is being run on pre-existing mobile technology, while the Northern Communications Network is being run via specialist radio signal

Can't remember if I have said it here before or not...

But Smart Meters don't bother me...  we have had one since 2008...………...

However.. I do know they are NOT so smart once they go round the clock and get back to all the Zero's!!!!!!!!!!!

We had to have ours replaced this year as sometime last year the meter reached all the '9's then rolled back round to all the '0's...……..

At which point it lost all of its brain power about how to calculate what electricity we had used..

It defaulted to estimated bills!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :C

Not very smart with that!"

BBC journalism misses out quite a lot

If you had taken the time to follow the link I posted you would have had that info and more

Arqiva provide the northern comms and Telefonica provide the southern comms then other companies provide the data crunching bit all managed by SmartDCC

The other thing besides "plants" that consumes bucket loads of power is...

Daughters...  Plus if you have more than one of them, power usage rises exponentially!

:C

What about if you have got "plants" in the loft, and daughters, and a wife that enjoys the hot-tub every evening once back from work and an electric car to charge?  Or is that just a real case for solar panels on the roof and a turbine in the garden to keep the electric police at bay?
