They do use mobile networks but they're also capable of transmitting data directly between smart meters when there's a high enough density of them in an area so they can form their own network as such. If you're in a cellular network non-reception area then your usage data can be sent between other meters until it arrives at one that does have cellular reception and this meter will then act as a relay and send all the data from the other meters back to Eon and the CIA.Surely if these use mobile networks to transmit big brother data then some wont work where there is no signal or if meter is in a metal cabinet then this will block signal ?
