So This Is What Cooking A Chicken Looks Like! ;)

Well thank goodness you've clarified that point. But can we please now have the log done for a Turkey. I'm sure it will help some of us verify a few Christmas period max demand doubts. Is that a new toy you are testing Sidewinder, or just too much time on your hands? And we need to see a photo of the cooked chicken just to verify the validity of the log.

Chickens been eaten Doc!

Yes it will, be a new toy, I think to replace one that I was sorely unhappy with, so unhappy it has been returned to the manufacturer for a full refund, which thank goodness they agreed to.

Plus I was not the only one to have issues with it.

I have the demo model at the moment, from the rep to see if, I am going to buy it or not, so far it does look a lot better than the device it is hopefully going to replace.

If, I do get one, I will be hooking it up @ home for a good while on different settings to get some data to play with in the software to learn how it all works, so I'll post some graphs, showing how much we can rely on our good friend Dai Versity! ;)

It's the bigger brother to the PEL, perhaps even the same, or VERY similar software.

PEL only does logging this one does full analysis, CA8336.

I did have another make which I was very unhappy with, as was another forum member when I lent it to him to try.

It's surprising how much current waveform distortion you get these days, with modern electronics...

The voltage is the nice smooth sine wave.

The beaks are in this one! ;)

Well as you have 'allegedly' now destroyed the evidence of the chicken, for all we know you could be just turning the immersion heater off & on.

Thing is I don't take pictures of my food & spread them around! ;)

Oh, we have gas heating and boiler for hot water! ;) ; ) ;)

Surprising how much harmonics you get these days, with nothing abnormal connected.

Hi Paul,

See the shitty waveform you got, I know this is to do with electronic things, but can you go and plug your device in, in an area with loads of them crappy solar panels, so as to find out how much damage they do to the nice smooth wave form that the the power stations turn out. What happens if you connect this gadget to the mains in your house with all appliances turned off?? what does the voltage waveform look like then??

john..

Oh, and why have you apparently got a "square wave" chicken??? Was it free range, or an ordinary one?? Does this make a difference??

john..

Hi John,

The square wave chicken is actually a current trace, so, it's the oven element kicking in at a steady state condition keeping the oven temperature constant.

I'd ask Canoe to do the solar thing, as he has solar, and is I believe about to get the same unit.

The smooth & distorted waveforms are the voltage, smooth, and the current, distorted.

Yes it is do do with electronic garbage plugged in.

Odds-49.gif

This is why the current waveform is distorted.

The smooth & distorted waveforms are the voltage, smooth, and the current, distorted.
Not as smooth as it should be... If you look at the maximum and minimum points you seen see that it appears a little bit flattened, due to the volts sagging a little a little due to the peak in current.

What is the loop impedance at board out of interest? (ideally L-N loop if you have it or, PSCC written down?). The effect is noticeable if you look closely but not stupidly high. So perhaps no more than 0.25 ohms and no less than around half that?

Even my bloody tree lights have a switching power supply in these days!

Yes the voltage wave is not totally pure, and yes slightly flattened.

I'll look up the ZL-N shortly.

I'm sure as hell not measuring it this time of night after a few beers!

Plus my meter is in the van, which, yes is outside, but, I can only get at the side door, and, the side is piled high with kit for tomorrow! ;)
