Now,

we wait for the real heroes to start running/swimming etc,

and if the TV doesnt show it non-stop, then, I for one, will be complaining about discrimination.

I've just fled from the Telly , can't take any more TBH.

The games themselves were great , specially track and field , enjoyed them, Team GB were great , opening ceremony was good but I can only take so many miming pop singers I never heard of .

I started off very negative about the Olympics. I thought it was a waste of money and a white elephant.

As they got started (managed first 30 minutes of opening ceremony and then went out) and we did well I watched more of it. My patriotic spirit kicks in and I am amazed how well we have done as a country. I think we can all be proud.

I have just watched the closing ceremony and it was a load of bovine excrement. Where do they dig these people up from? The only bit that was any good was Monty Python!

Hats off to the athletes. Hats off for execution (it all seems to have run smoothly). Hats off to BBC coverage. 2/10 for opening & closing!

Id love to know where team GBR went in the closing ceremony, it was all English, unless I obviously missed something, which I often do.

but, yes, it was very good for the actual team GBR in the medals, well done to all. :D

Bring on the Paralympics next, looking forward to watching it as I kno a few people participating, one in the fencing category and one in the swimming!

Both very good friends of mine and I wish em both the best of British hah

Well I'm just back from 2 weeks away. Bliss. 2 weeks without a telly while the olympics was on.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against people watching sport. It was well covered with 24 extra channels just for the olympics, far far better coverage than any previous olympics.

So with all that extra coverage available, why was it, whenever I got near a tv and tried to have a look at the news, there was no news, apart from the olympics? Surely rather than turning Sky News and BBC News over to "olympic news" channels, they should have been left alone to report "ordinary" news, and one of the extra 24 channels should have been a roling olympic news channel?

I do wonder how much government bad news has escaped the public attention in the last 2 weeks due to the lack of normal news coverage. I can just see the government PR guys noticing this and "publishing" all the bad news they could find, knowing virtually nobody would hear about it.

Rant over
