Not long after coming home this evening our dog gave a little bark and went towards the front door,, on looking I saw a guy outside, didnt know what he was doing so I opened the door and asked him if I could help..

He then went on to ask if I was selling my van, I'm not and he then went on his way..

The thing is, is that my van is parked against a hedge to the side and a wall to the rear, it's sign written and does not have a for sale sign on it..

The other thing is that we live at the end of a cul-de-sac... 11 houses down and right at the end.

The guy was also driving a 56 plate transit and my van is a Y plate kangoo!!

God knows what he was doing, but my van is now empty of tools and my car is parked tight against the other side... Maybe it's time I fitted an alarm?!?!

I also repotted this suspicious behaviour Inc. His number plate number to the police

Surprised the police didn't charge you for wasting their time as its clearly not their job to protect the public these days.

Had a friend who's place was being broken into by a psycho and he called the police 3 times at about 2am. They rocked up at 8am to check they were all still alive. That was nice of them wasn't it.

my thoughts would be that he was doing something strange and went for asking about the van as an excuse? I'd watch the house too!

Probably knocking to see if you were in....no reply then he would probably be 'forcing an entry into your personal space'. They are called 'knockers' around here [and not the type you are all thinking about]...If I were you I would be keeping all the valuables locked up somewhere other than in the Van. The sign writing is like an advert/shopping list/serving suggestion to them; yes, it brings in work and all advertising is good...on the other hand every bu66er knows what you have got. My vehicle has a couple of stickers on it that say ' The inside of this vehicle is monitored by wireless CCTV '... :coat

there was an article in the paper some time ago about a shooting(in Australia I think),

apparently this house was being shot apart from the inside,

Police turn up armed to the teeth and a stand off started(kinda) when they got the loudhailer or whatever going this little old lady comes out with a shotgun,

apparently she had been trying to kill a spider.!!!! :slap

now that is a phobia.!!

be careful mate sounds Like he got a stolen one and is cloning yours eg making his a double of yours eg reg so his dose not show up as stolen on the police car cameras look out for speeding fines and stuff

The 'is your vehicle for sale' line is a very common one, they were casing your house or van. Its a easy excuse for suspicious behavior or being on land when they arnt supposed to be.

He was "casing the joint"

He'll be back. Be on your guard.

You could try taking everything out of the van at night and leave it unlocked. At least he won't have to smash his way in to find it's empty!

Only trouble is he'll 'guess' you've got the stuff in your garage and try that next. Do yourself a favour and get some storage (I use a local farm). Loads of places with containers for 20 quid a week.

Alternatively, get your van alarmed with a cheap alarm. Take the stuff out. Put a baby monitor in the van with the reciever next to your bed. You'll know when someone's having a go at your van then. Be outside in a flash waving your 24 inch crowbar!

A person as a right to protect their home and belongings. With reasonable force!!! Does that include a GSD hanging off their nadgers ???

While you are correct, I seem to recall Myeline Klass getting done for waiving a kitchen knife at some scumbags who were breaking into her shed.

Indeed. They should have given him a medal. Problem was (from memory) he shot them while they were running away and he had just gone postal a few days before on another house and shot out all its windows.
