Right have been doing an extension which is all done but original house consumer unit is away from meter and fed from 16mm 2 core armoured . This has been moved outside in meter box as it Was in old utility room cupboard and now is playroom. The water has been bonded with 10mm as it is in the old utility room. Any reason armour could not be used as main earth installation is pme. I have used banjo and 16mm to earth block of switch fuse. It was not done originally when switch was inside and would imagine other end is same but as its in a kitchen cupboard cannot get access to reterminate it. I don't like using armour as cpc unless its TT but loop readings are ok although I am going to downgrade fuse to 80 amps as at present its 100amp. Needs doing as 16mm swa won't take 100 amps.

does the armoure go underground and if so is it in ducting or buried direct, personally i wouldnt rely on the armouring as after years the degrading of the armouring it could fail.

Batty, I don't see the problem using the armour as long as the loop readings are way in and they are marked with the correct tabs, Swa 16mm will comply to 100amps if you use xple.

This is an existing circuit I have only moved main switch its all internal.

Thaught XLPE SWA was 91amps?

oh well thats not as bad as there wont be weather issues against it ;) is there any way you could get a 16mm back as an earth?
No chance lady is about to give birth and no way I am taking floors up. My only question is there anything against regs as I need to do a minor works certificate for work I have done.

where is the bonding connected? if its connected to service head, then SWA can be used as the earth to DB. but if its taken from the CU, then the SWA must be equivilent copper size for bonding to be connected
