following from a recent discussion I have had with our DNO about frequent powercuts we have been having,

5 since christmas,

I have had a return phone call to inform me that we are now going to have our TNS supply TNCS and PME'd .

WTF , ?

talk about doing everything but calling the woman the antich***t herself.!!!!!

she actually seemed quite knowledgable, as she was when I rang up about the power failures in the first place,

but,

would NOT guarantee that my house would be rodded at the point of entry, in fact went as far as to say it would be very unlikely there would be any rods in the vicinity apart from the main split points and transformer, or where they have dug up to repair the faulty cable, 500yds away at least, and about 30 houses minimum fed from that phase, so thats at 30 joints missing rods.

I think I need a bigger generator, headbang

anyone got any rods going cheap?

I was quite happy with my TNS,

now its decision decision time,

and Im pretty sure most of you will know what Im going to do.

So do the DNO reckon they will alleviate the power cut problem by changing the supply characteristics ?Steps on a TNCS (PME) supply with the only rod at the transformer :slap ROTFWL :slap

think Im gonna need to have a word with the rev about this,

it musta been someone very important,

the lady told me very proudly that as they had dug up to repair the cable they were going to 'upgrade' the earthing system by changing it to TNCS from TNS, maybe the extra letter fools a lot of joe public,

I dont think she was impressed when I started asking her stuff, but fair play, she did then get honest with me when I told her what I did for a living.

I think she was scared I was going to start digging up the rods for scrap !
