Can people use this thread to post the 7 faults they had on their bays please.

Jonny, fault finding is a pivotal skill in this trade IMO. You will need to learn to suss out faults on your own. Basic testing will eventually point you in the direction of the fault to be found.

1. short circuit
   
2. open circuit
   
3. wrong connection
   
4. switch failure
   
5. load item failure , e.g lamp open circuit
   

All basic test can be done with continuity,resistance and insulation resistance.

One important tool is the ability to use your test result and use your electrical theory to check your results. ohms law and the regs

not really pointless, better than going in blind.

Surely the whole point of the exam is to see if you can do it blind - coz that is what will be happening outside of the exam room?

Old Time Spark: There are no equipment faults only wiring faults.

The three faults you will have to suss out:

1. Short Circuit

2. Open Circuit

3. Crossed connection i.e pass wires crossed

1. Short cct

2. Open cct

3. Cross connection

4. High resistance
