Mainly for our younger members.

That classic silent comedy, "The Plank" with Eric Sykes and Tommy cooper is being shown on five at 11:10 tonight.

Even if you've seen it before it's worth another watch, it's some years since I last saw it.

And for those that have never seen it, it's worth a watch. They don't make comedy like that any more.

My PVR is set to record it.

I remember it from back then , I hope its still as good .  I feel it will be .  Some stuff, especially comedy , doesn't travel well, its of its time .  Other stuff doesn't date , such as Laurel & Hardy .

There was a slightly similar film called " A Home of your Own"   I think the same or similar cast was in it.

What was the other one about a building site?

The one where the electric came and dug a hole in the road, did their work and went away.

Next day water came and dug a hole in the same place then went.

third day gas came and dug the same hole for a third time.

Was that the one you were thinking of Evans?

Yes thats the one and one of the characters keeps heading for the site "Thunder Box"  to take a dump but the various tea break whistles keep stopping him ( he,s not willing to dump in his own time ! )   Can't remember too much TBH.

And I'd have bet Steptoe's life savings that The Plank was in B&W  and there it was in colour!!.
