How long is it ?  I need to go to bed.     I'll look tomorrow.

These battles were horrendous  ,  I believe  the Somme had 6000 dead on the first day .   Can you imagine that news coming on TV at 9.00  these days?     

All I can ever  think of  is working class  troops thrown against the enemy gunfire ,  sacrificed by upper class ,  public schoolboy,   useless officers , who bought their commissions  & knew ****** all about it .  

I believe Lord Kitchener or some other twit  said that  " These  tanks  will never replace cavalry "    Yeah  right mate !!  Tell that to General Patton in WW2    He had the right idea , stay mobile , don't start digging in .  

Bloody war between three bleedin' jumped up so called  royal cousins sabre rattling  then sacrificing thousands of their own citizens to satisfy own egos .   Bloody Kings  & Emperors ...load of bleeding inbred gangsters  .  

Bloody , bleeding , sodding , British education system  teaches history , which when analysed , boils down to one so called King after another killing everybody in sight to gain or retain power & wealth .    Oh  and of course , most important ....burning cakes on the way ...do me a bloody favour  bloody brain washers .

That's strictly not true - the Officers lead from the front and were the first to get killed - so the losses for the officers (and thus the upper classes) was higher by percentage .

Whats worse, is the fact that 20 years after the end of WW1, with all this mass killing fresh in peoples minds, Europe decided to have a 2nd go ....

Watch the film... Turns out that general Haig that led the thing was completely against it all, thought it was lunacy himself, but it was all forced on him by his political masters, who, it turned out, only did it, and wait for this, because the french told them to, aaaand then it turns out they lied as they promised to sent 40 divisions but only 4 showed up.. The "war of attrition stuff" Turns out Haig was completely against this, it was a french idea though, them to blame entirely. They just wanted the british and germans to just run out of men to make it easier for the french at verdun.

I certainly learnt something...

Lots of these programmes are pidgeon-poop, but i think you can believe the narrator of this one....
