Cannot play drums for toffee, could not carry a tune in a bucket!

However I have always liked drums...back from my chequered career as a part time roadie in the 70s ( not a lot of people know that!)

Always like Krupa, Rich, Verrel, Moon, Collins and many more.

Anyway, just cruising and stumbled across these, firstly an all time great

Just saying

you cant play drums in a dicky bow suit,!!!

those guys are amazing,,,

I went to school with a guy that played drums in an NI marching band,

he also played fife and black flute,

he failed his O level music practical [<10%] cos he couldnt read music, proper drum music,

but he could play the death if he ever heard a tune once,

on his resit the teacher got wind of the tune and played it to him the day before,

he got apparently over 95% in the exam the next day,  :)

Kerch , you've reminded me of a drum solo I've not heard for some time .   Its not on Youtube , just looked,   middle  1950,s  recording of Louis Armstrong & the All Stars  of Basin Street Blues  ,  something like a 6 minute track  with a 2 min drum break  near the end ,  think it was Cozy Cole  .

Did you mention Gene Krupa ?

In the pop world of the '60s there was Sandy Nelson .

Im in a Kate Bush tribute band Rev, I daren't put the name on here coz the admins don't appear to like me doing so, which is a shame coz im massively proud of what weve achieved so far in a short time.

Sounds good to me!

I always wanted to learn to play the Sax!

Wifes friend has an Irish Folk /Ceildh band....he sings, plays guitar etc.

They are booked up,for Paddys day years in advance....deffo got a talent

Played trumpet/ cornet in high school, was in school band etc, when I left aged 16 I handed the instrument back and never gave it another thought. Was always able to get a few good notes out of a length of 20mm conduit though much to my workmates amusement. about 4 years ago I was inspired to take it up again after a 30 year break! Really enjoy playing. Also ended up playing bass at local jazz club once a month where I also usually play a couple of trumpet solos too.

I know a few old plumbers who could play the half inch copper pipe......never took to the 15 mm though! True Old School!!
I used to get a length of 15mm and stick a 22/15 reducer in as a mouthpiece. I could play 'Amazing grace' and it was all in tune apart from one note a semitone out. Plumbers were on the floor crying with laughter, tears running dowwn their faces. It was a bit awkward to play, so they coiled it up with the pipe bender like a french horn and even soldered on the top of an imm cylinder for a bell. Unfortunately no pics of that.

Slightly different note...

But still vaguely on topic ish'..

I don't play any musical instruments...

Kids do...  Wife used too...

My brother still does...
