Well I played violin to level 5, I had a set of drums set up in my front room, and have a collection of guitars. I also played every instrument in the orchestra to the amusement of street performers that allow myself to have a go!!

The one instrument I have never been able to pay other than basic cords is the piano.

Rev, I also played in my school band and on a national level doing brass, starting as you do as second cornet leading into first cornet. I actually did my A level in music when I was 14.

I have since worked for several bands as a sound engineer, so I have an ear  for music unfortunately I think I am losing this ability if I look at the x factor and what the judges think is talent!

Ehat gets me about X factor, BGT etc, is you get a bunch of wannabe's - good image perhaps - we know its all engineered, The singing is through auto correct on the sound desk so unlikely to be actually that good in the real world. the unsung heroes? the session musicians who actually do the creative part of making the sound work.

Thats the guy  Kerch , but definitely "Basin Street Blues"  .

Reverend ,   your post put me in mind of The Chris Barber Band .       Can't believe that conduit trombone :C I've heard guys playing conduit onsite also  Wobbleboard players and a Chippy who played his saw by flexing it somehow .....always the National Anthem though .
