Racking my brain to try and remember what my catapult was!

Nothing like the Barnnets .....it was just a rounded sort of Y shaped affair, rubber bungees and a leather missile holder. There was a hatched thumb print area for your thumb to fit...this was also the place that the missile hit if you were not concentrating. It tended to hurt a Tad if you got it wrong, along with the loss of a thumb nail

Just.....wincing at the memory of it!

Yep, thats the one. Cross hatched thumb indent below the joint of U bit at the top of the handle

MILBRO!

We used dried peas from local hardware shop along with square elastic, never knew what the elastic was really used for, it was 1/4" and we spent days finding the ideal Y branch in the local woods in between swinging on the vines, then upgraded to alloy one from sports/hobby shop with round tube and leather sling. Happy days.

We also used the peas in the pea shooter, alloy tube with plastic mouthpiece all from same hardware store.

Proper car number plates with proper british numbers instead of the foreign rubbish we have now that were only brought in as part of the "softening up" process of stopping us being british and making us ALL into stupid euro foreigners.

Hills with proper signs on them instead of this "percent" rubbish that NOBODY wants or understands.

Road signs in yards instead of metres [which are, so far as i know, still illegal anyway]

Temperatures in proper units too. It is 80 or 90 sometimes here in the summer, no matter what the foreigners or snotty kids think.

I believe the Welsh do not have a word for metres so it is still Yards.....militr or summat

We still, use Centigrade for when it is cold though

Toy always say FFS it is COLD. Minus 3 you know, as opposed to the Fahrenheit equivalent just saying

Although I agree with the above , specially steep hill signs  :C       I have always wondered what planet Bert Fahrenheit was from when he thought up  32  for freezing point  and 212  for boiling .   Using water was a good idea but what was wrong with  zero  and 100  .

We spent our schooldays trying to remember the conversion formuae .

I think it was something to do with he made himself a freezing mixture with some sort of salt and when he had got things as cold as he possibly could, called this "0" The other temperatures i have no idea.

Fahrenheit to the foriegn stuff subtract 32 divide by 1.8 and the other way about. A quick way is to multiply by 2. So, when the muppets on the telly say it will be "20" degrees, double it and add 32 = 72

Note that the correct answer is 68, but it is near enough!!

In a similar vein there are 2.205 pounds in a kilogramme, but for a quick and easy conversion, double it and add ten percent.

So, take 100 kilo's, double it = 200

Add 10% =220Lb's You would only be half a pound out!!!!!

I've been at college for two weeks so my brain is a little burnt out, but what are proper british number numbers? :) 0123456789...? :)

Hill signs makes no sense though, someone had a few too many pints when they came up with that!

all UK numbers are 11 digits. area codes are either 4 or 5 digits and start 01 or 02, then local number either 7 or 6 digits. all mobiles start 07. then 03 / 08 / 09 are various free / premium / fraud numbers

and hill signs can be useful if your not familiar with the area, bit warning to slow down in advance, more so if in anything heavy. or if your going up, floor it sooner...
