The time has now come, after 5 and a half years for working for EINW from boy to man, I'm now officially self employed. Got about 2 and a half weeks work lined up and a few recently priced. Just over 2k in savings. My van is getting signwriten on tues, yellow pages ad is all set up for the new edition in march. Got a little ad in my local paper next week, and 3months in the local parish mag.

Nervous but really looking forward to it.

Any advice?

Good luck and hope you get lots of responce to your ad's

It's the little things that make the difference. Clean up after yourself, arrive when you said you will, look smart, return phone calls.

Best of luck!

Yes, do not become a plumber :p

The only advise I can give is cutomer is King, treat them as you would like to be treated and you will be ok.

Be honest if you can not fit them in for a job do not tell them you can, they rely on you to be there when you say you will.

Keep all records, if possible get signatures for the work you undertake, a detailed quote printed out will save you loads of hassle when they require any extras installed not included in the original quote.

Finnaly keep your head up and be positive, times will be hard at times but with a good aptitude you will get through.

Good Luck mate, can't really add anything better than what's already been said, just make sure you get paid, there are some schysters out there! And keep your van nice and clean as it is a four wheeled advert for your business.

Good luck ,all the best, dont forget work hard play hard or all work and no, play makes jack a dull boy. :)

good luck and all the best for 2010.

Make sure you advertise a land line number know lots of people will not ring a advert with only a mobile advertised.

My advice comes too late. Don't advertise in the Yellow pages lol

Well it works for some folks, others it doesn't. Personally it didn't for me when I first started up.

Good Luck!

Cheers guys, good news today, got another re-wire that I priced for so busy now for about 1month.
