Three Terminal Capacitors

Hi All, someone on another forum I am trying to help, [a welding one] is looking for some capacitors for a welding generator, they say that;

"hi John, these capacitors are about 7inches x 9 inchesx 3 inches with three lugs on top with the markings:- 60 uf ( microfarad) x 3 + or - 5% 550volts
 

Genset, the robbers that make the welders, want "£268 plus vat each x 5 comes to nearly £1500 there has to be a cheaper solution"

Anyone got any ideas??

Have you got photos? Maybe they're a multi cap where they've packed more than one capacitor into a single case.

Of connections, general layout of caps & the labelling if possible.

I guess the requirement is not local to you?

Hi all,

They are not for me, i am just trying to find some for someone. Never seen a three terminal cap before!! I have seen it suggested they are merely 2 caps with a common terminal in one case, not sure though!!

If its a Generator it will be 3 caps in a case - as a guess

Can you post a photo ?

Hi all,

Just in case you were all wondering, the bloke with the welding set that wanted the three terminal caps found some ok....

He found himself four 70 mF ones at a nice total price of £400 !!!!!

Hmmm, yes!! I thought more like a tenner each be more like it... or maybe a bit more as they were funny ones,,, but not £100 each!!!!

TBH I would be amazed if he had needed to pay £100 for all 4 including carriage & vat!
