After solving the fuel injection problem on the Model T last week I confidently chucked everything in the back for a board change this morning .

The mighty diesel roared into life and I smugley exited the garage and got out to shut the doors , the power unit humming quietly like a finely tuned Ferrari ,waiting to leap into life with the call of the throttle to carry me at a blistering pace through the streets, a mere blur of speed as I flash by, Porche drivers gasping as I hurtle by , " Why that must have been the Dekemobile!!!....WoW!! "

Alas it was not to be , as I took my seat and prepared for the G forces on letting out the clutch, the engine spluttered and died ....just like last week .

Customer is having a day off work so its pile everything in the wife's car and abandon Thunderbird 2 .

And you know whats coming .......spent the whole day needing small bits and dabs that would have been in the van headbang

I hate it when my vans off the road like you say you can guarantee you will be short of something. Luckily mine is quite realiable just getting old and a bit rusty round the edges. I want to change it but then may end with an unreliable one.

Well I have fingers crossed now , a side issue was that the battery was obviously failing so fitted a new one today , engine starts ,engine runs , drive up and down the service gulley a few times , back it into garage.

So logically , if it runs for 1/2 hour, it'll run forever . Not taken it to the mechanic.

Tomorrow will tell I guess . Perhaps there is an electric/electronic device on the feul system that was shutting off due to under voltage. :C

No work till Friday now .

Well Thunderbird started this morning . Did another 10 mile round trip to the scrap cable man , seemed to run OK but it puts you on tenterhooks thinking it may cut-out on the fly-over or somewhere.

Chucked all the short bits of SWA in the van (10m) Then did a double take at two coils of Pyro , worked out I'd had them for 17 years so they went too.

Talk about hoarding !!!! :C

so approximatly as old as thunderbird2 then :p

glad to hear thunder is back OTR and hopefully it will be as fit as a fiddle again now and behave itself for you

I think you may be right there Rev. I have no work on but got it out of the Batcave this morning , its starting and ticking over now . Have a job Firday ,so fingers crossed.
Maybe go out and stop it? You'll be out of fuel by morning.........

:D

I know you're all dying to know so Thunderbird 2 started up and ran OK all day today , speeds of 30MPH were atained at times , overtook 2 paperboys on bikes !!

Reverend, mechanic confirmed that even on the Model T there is a fuel management device which could be affected by undervoltage .

Steps I don't want to put a damper on the project but you'll have to work on that problem of it breaking into Radio 4 transmissions . I kept telling you ., you need your own wavelength .

And its transmissions speeding up Pacemakers is just not on TBH. :_|

Let down by Thunderbird again this morning . Been using it for 3 days , back to the same fault this morning .

Pile as much as possible into the wife's car and off to a job . Same old thing , keep needing stuff thats in the van , what a PITA !!!

Stuck in the service gully again now .
