This is th point to stop trying to fix it yourself, if you had an electrical problem you would call in an electrition, if you knew one :)

I do, I always get Specs in , or if he's busy , the Badger is not far away . Never did understand this elastictrickery.

Petrol engines with HT leads, sets of points and carburettas , I'm happier with , diesels are mystery. Modern cars of course are almost unservicable without high tech knowledge , I stick to plugs, oil and filters with them.

1923 Model T Ford 100cc ;) Sorry I tend to do that in defense against the pi$$ takers at the wholesalers , the sparks who drive the latest 4x4s and posey pick-ups .No probs until now .
Look at it this way...it may be old [ I drive an M reg vehicle for work ] but on a Friday night you don't have to search around for the money to pay for it! IYSWIM.... :coat

I believe in "Horses for Courses" TBH so my old N reg tdoes the job , if I lived on a 1,000,000 acre cattle range in Texas I'd probably drive a 2 ton designer pick-up like the sparky I referred to does . When he left the wholesalers the manager said " Perhaps if he drove on old Escort too, he might pay his bills on time like you do "

hoping for a simple problem. mucho cheapness bill please mr mechanic

Now why didn't I think of that , Batts. ?

I was thinking along the lines of a UFO holding Thunderbird2 in a force field . Makes more sense TBH .. aggressive action by the Mysterons is just silly , lives in his own world , that Batty.

The nonsense you talk , honestly, Batts, aliens taking the engine out, FFS ................. they'd just beam the whole van up !!!

Must go ,....theres a blinding white light over the garage and a high pitched electronic deafening noise and a terrible bass thumping vibrating our floor and a strange smell permeating the air ....... OMG!!! .... strange beings are in next door's garden ......they're smoking long cigarettes with a strange smell .......OH panic over ...... its just my neighbours , Seymour and Bevlynn looking at the stars as usual .

Update to satisfy the thousands of enquiries concerning the well being of Thunderbird 2 .

OK it has been running trouble free for 2 weeks except for an occasional blip of speed when not expected, then this morning , off to install supply to a new machine , engine cuts out , won't start.

Try the usual thrashing with a broken branch , then pump the primer , open filler cap, hiss of escaping pressure heard, engine starts and runs all day.

Asked another couple of guys but no one interested in looking at it.

They've all supposed to have checked that , as its exactly what I thought , thing is I'm trying to avoid a visit to the main Ford dealership 'cos they charge more per hour even than Sideswiper . !!!

Our chippy mate has same van , must see if his tank releases pressure like that.

I suspect Andy is right, that the tank is creating a vacuum and it is air entering that you are hearing.

Try an emergency fuel cap as a temp measure to see if it works if so then it may just need the cap stripping and cleaning, if that is where the vent is, sometimes there is a line connected high up on the filler neck this could be blocked if present.

After another period of starting and running and a couple of 50mile round trips to the farm job , Thunderbird 2 is acting up again , so its down at yet another garage I do jobs for .

I hope problem can be sorted .
