Had a callout today,,, when I get there the lady of the house said that she had eventually gotten fed up with a black wire coming into the house by the front door and just grabbed it with a pair of pliers and started to cut it,,,, until her husband told her that the phone and broadband had stopped working...

You have thought that seeing the GPO terminal box would have made her think twice:slap

Anyway,, luckily there was just enough slack in the cable to re terminate the ends

Yep,,, it was the main incoming BT line

Humm. As per my opinion she is smart enough. She may now think twice with connection boxes.
