Just spoken to my brother who works for a huge mobile phone company in Berkshire

All employees have been told they are not to use company fuel cards if they fill up at any Total garages.

A round about way of supporting the British workers?

there is a total garage round here thats always about 8ppl more than everywhere else.... that includes the garage on the other side of roundabout and shell 1/2 mile away
