Strange one today.

Lady calls.  Triton shower not working. Still in warranty. Triton have just been out, can't fix it, need an electrician.

All that was wrong was neutral incoming connection was loose in terminal and terminal had melted.

Simple fix. New input terminal block. Plenty of slack on incoming neutral to cut back and re terminate on a good bit of cable. Simple 5 minute fix.

Why the heck could the Triton man not have fixed that? He muttered something about "not a standard part". It's their input chock block terminal FFS, surely he has those.

Not complaining, simple fix for an hours money, but if I were the customer I would be very peed off with their service.

Yes £50 from CPC

The fault was on the input side.

But he could have fixed it. result, happy customer please with Triton service, happy to recommend them, good for the brand.

Or he could refuse to fix it. result, unhappy customer, will probably not think much for them not fixing something so simple. Bad for the brand. will probably tell all their friends etc.

Never mind the Triton service, dave what's all this about an hours pay? No call out fee? What's an hours fee these days?

You really don't need the money do you!

On the other hand..................

Maybe it was just a case of he did not have any choc bloc big enough with him.

OR, It may be a case of like a company I used to work for, if they do not supply, it you can not use it on a job, so although its only large choc bloc if he is not allowed to carry it, he really cant fix it.

And to be fair they do supply the terminal block to connect into so a supply of them would be prudent.

I do (partly) see the companies point that if something originates before the shower it is not their problem. You can't expect to pay £50 for a shower to get them out to change the isolator etc etc.

If the engineers worked for me I'd work on the view 'if its under the cover then we will do it' so the small repair should likely have been done. Flip it around an imagine if there was no slack on the neutral, what then? Bash hole in the wall and extend? Actually the more I think about this, the more I think it was worth an hour of Dave's time......

:D
