and then after that, sue the same people for tripping because it was dark and you couldnt see

maybe we should go switch off all street lights. iirc, they work every day!

and maybe shut down the grid, just incase

and they want compensation ??????

number 10 of the commandments comes into play

'You shall not covet anything that belongs to your neighbor'

like their right to have a light sensor,,,M'Lud

Dorset....im on my way !!!!

If they dont wish to turn them on when observing their religion, tell them not to move!

What about the rights of those of us who not Jewish ? And as said above can Jews not go out on a Saturday for fear of the street lighting coming on at dusk. Does the Torah also forbid off peak heating from kicking in at midnight ?

Someone is taking the gezunteye .

They also said that their solicitors told them they had a strong claim
Well he would, after all he gets paid what ever the outcome :^O

I think it would be a very feeble claim if you take into account the governments commitment to reducing the carbon footprints of buildings.

Part L1 for domestic and Part L2 for commercial energy saving lighting and control systems.

Another thing do they also refuse to turn on their car headlights after dark?

They probably refuse to use the car that day. This even made it into the metro today.

Indeed it does: From the BBC News link in the OP...

The couple's religious code bans lights and other electrical equipment being switched on during Jewish holidays

It amazes me that a religion over a few hundred years old had the foresight to include not using electrickery during their day of rest. Thats amazing or is it just someone has released 2.0 of that religion, now updated and improved.

Not until now it would seem, Patch. I thought I had resonded to one the other day too, but couldn't find it.

Easy solution for them.....go turn the main switch off problem solved...or maybe its yet again another case of money grabbing morons, if they dont like our lights theres a nice place for them its called Israel.
