Hi all just been to see a small job today of connecting a diesel fuel pump to a supply 230v. The guy that bought it was told you could just flex it to plug top as it only take 3amps, but when I looked at it say's " connect to 5a type c mcb"

I know this is due to higher start up currents, but my question is would you recomend that when on a plug top and fused to 5amp, going through a 20amp (b type) radial socket outlet that is already there that this would suffice?

And as fergull used to say

" PLEASE BE GENTLE WITH THIS HEART OF MINE ";)

Should be no problem

20 A B type Mcb will allow in rush current in excess of 5 A C type.

Almost all of the info povided above is good, however, none of it is valid.

Unfortunatey, the makers instructions state a value & curve for the supply breaker, thus if you do not compy you will not be complying with their instructions, thus if there is any problem you will be on your own to explain why you did not comply.

Sorry,
