I ran a 9.5kw shower on full, connected through a 16a B type breaker, just for the hell of it. Guess how long it took for the breaker to trip ( if indeed it tripped at all ) ?:|

My bet is it didn't trip!!!!!!!

I do remember from my dim and distant college days there is a formulae for working out how much current it takes to trip a mcb and I know it was never the rated value

Well it lasted a bit longer than a 50W halogen lamp blowing and tripping a 6A MCB
