I recently renewed my commercial van insurance  at a reasonable cost.

Someone has said they also renewed van with same company , then found a load of complaints so informed the broker to put them with someone else. ,....and I should have a look at complaints .

Well I can only find one complaint TBH  , unless I missed all the others .   Company is listed as one of the major vehicle insurers in UK .

So , anyone had any problems with ERS    (Equity Red Star) ?

Was with ER$ for years, no problems until I bought a new car then the premium went sky high, double what I pay now!

As I never got into an accident never got to deal with them just gave them money to drive  legally.

Daylight robbery IMO.

All insurance is a scam, where else do you have to pay on somebody else's behalf?

The only time people can compare is when you have a claim 😉
You're right there Slippers,   thats what I was told , when it came to sorting a claim out they were carp ....but as I said I can only see one complaint .

Policy was reasonable at £296.00  for the Combo van .   My existing insurers wanted £450.00  .

If you look hard enough there are complaints about everyone/everything. People only review services like insurance when they are unhappy, if there are thousands of complaints the chances are it is simply because they are the biggest.

I don't care who mine is with, as long as it is the cheapest. They are all robbing con merchants anyway, I had a 7.5 ton wagon take the side out of my Vivaro at the beginning of April, still not fully settled/sorted. The other party claim they are having trouble getting the CCTV footage from the vehicle. One or the other insurers should really be settling this rather than dragging it out for months on end.

move every year and you will get a better deal. Loyalty is rewarded with higher premiums.

Using a (good) broker can be useful Lurch, they know how to push the right buttons the right way and sort out all the paperwork for you (or at least mine did last time I had to make a claim).

I used to use a local broker as I was more than happy with the service and the extra bits they did each renewal, trimmed a bit off here and there where they could and tweaked my policies as required. In recent years though it hasn't just been slightly more, it has been double so on the whole it wasn't worth it. My current policy is with Gladiator, they were somewhat useless when I made the initial claim, took all the details and then said 'we can't deal with this type of claim' and then just put me through to Axa and didn't bother passing any details on. TBF to Axa I did get what I wanted for the van paid out pretty quickly and they covered the hire van for the week after the incident, but because of the other parties reluctance to submit evidence I haven't been able to reclaim the excess or claim for the loss of earnings etc.

Reminds me, need to chase them up really. Something to do when I get home I suppose.

On the plus side for insurance though my public liability and indemnity renewal was 60% lower this time round.

insurance is a weird kettle of fish, so I have to say I shop around every year. I also use the 'is that the best you can do?' line, that knocked £300 off my insurance just like that!

Agree entirely with Binky........  no loyalty anymore on either side really.

Motor insurers will shove your premium up when it expires  but will welcome a new customer with a special offer .

I insure my van and our car and can often save £200  each year by changing insurer.
