Having being made redundant as a TV engineer I would like to retrain and have been recommended by my local collage to take a VRQ level 2 course which covers domestic installations. It would seem looking at this forum that a lot of qualified and experienced electricians do not seem to rate this path into the industry. I have over 20 yrs experience and hold a city and guilds in electrical and electronic servicing, is there a better way to obtain the relevant qualifications? I am 45 and need to work during the day, nobody seems to want to employ without the relevant qualifications.

Thanks, that was what was what i was thinking of doing but the collage where pushing towards the VRQ course.
