take this message as a warning not to use the following hotel THE SWAN in STOFORD, as me and laura booked to stay there, but unfortunetly due to medical reasons we had to cancel within 48hours they charged us the booking fee from my card and are refusing to give us a refund even though we are in the right, they charged it on the day after saying we didnt cancel till the day they charged it and are generally very rude and not very understanding along with other people that we have since found that have left reviews their customer service leaves alot to be desired, if you value your card/bank money then dont use either booking.com or the swan at stoford as they are both con-merchants,

 
So long as you gave 48 hours notice then get in touch with your card issuer - they will get the money back if you used a credit card.

 
Though you may well have cancelled BEFORE the 48 hour deadline they might have held off and put it through AFTERWARDS........so they could charge you etc. Might be worth checking your phone records to them so you have some evidence to present if necessary of exactly WHEN you phoned them.

 
we cancelled before the 48 hours though thats the point of our complaint with them.

so which is it?

if it was within 48 hours, then not much you can do really. kinda the same as someone phoning you just before a start date to cancel without adequate notice to arrange other work
