i got a call out the other night at about 18:30 for a lighting fault at someones house. After about half an hour the guy decided to let me know he had put a new light fitting up. Applaud Smiley (even after me asking if he had done anything when i got there)

anyway all in all i was there about an hour and charged

I remember being at my brothers on a sat the day after he moved into his brand spanking new house and he had been in bed all day leaving me, his wife and our mother to put up all the curtain tracks etc. He eventually got up and said he wanted a mirror over the fireplace, got my drill and drilled though a gas pipe. Was mid December so no heating and all the windows open (to clear gas) was not good.

New estate so no yellow pages so we ended up driving to his work to get one to find a plumber (new area for him). Called maybe 30 plumbers wo all refused to come out at 6:30 on a sat eve. Eventually found one. Took him about 45 mins to get there. fixed the pipe (with a new section) and started writing out the bill. We then wondered if we had enough cash to cover it.

Saw him write

lol of course!

1/ ANY price that is mutually agreed between a customer and contractor is fair! :| ;) 2/ you didn't say what your mileage / travel time was?

3/ the cost MUST also be relative to what you would have been doing if you were NOT at the fault?

e.g. important family commitments forfeited to sort out customer. :)
heres one for you, got a callout to a job to change a bathroom pullcord, fitted new supplied customer there only half an hour, nbo drink offered but hey ho. charged him

You can sleep soundly, it is a fair price, I would have charged the muppett double just for telling you about the fitting of said light fitting.

makes me kick myself in a way because i had a call out the week before at 9.30pm, again took about an hour from when i left the house to when i got back, and i only charged

there oullcord decided to give up the ghost so i had to change the pullcord, but the only reason he called me in was he wasnt sure which wire went where, there was only 3 a PL SL and EARTH :^O so i connected the live to each finger on him and the earth to his b@ll ***** :^O :^O then he seemed to understand :^O :^O :^O
