Anyone got a waste policy I can have a copy of as I have to produce one next year on my inspection by NAPIT.

And how many of you have the waste transfer licence, or do you leave all old materials for the client to dispose of.

Thanks all. Mike

AFAIAA you can't leave waste at the clients as it is trade waste and should not be disposed of via the domestic refuse collection service, nor should you allow untrained and unregistered personnel to remove your waste from site, so basically you can;t leave waste on site. Therefore you need a waste transfer licence and also have to dispose of it at the tip, and pay for the privilege.

The above is what you're meant to do anyway, if you do leave waste at the customers then I wouldn;t bother writing it down on the policy, similarly if you don;t have a licence you shouldn;t be removing it either, so basically to comply fully you're screwed one way or the other.

HI, not got a waste policy, but got a waste carriers licence last week.

According to the Environment Agency, its a legal requirement if you carry any waste produced in the course of your business, and you must also have a waste transfer note (kept for 2yrs) that shows where you dispose (and pay) for it.

I know folk will always leave it at the customers etc, but that won't wash if you are stopped, as the onus is on you to prove how you deal with your waste -and that includes paperwork that isn't alowed in your domestic recycling etc.

Its a money maker stealth tax, but my understanding is its required.

How much is a waste licence Kilswitch? Do you know if it is a national standard rate, or does is vary between the local authorities own charge scales, such as the differences with Part P notification costs?

erm NO!

at this point in time NIC are not asking for anything?

so, for now.. not asked for... not got!!!! :| :Blushing

I wonder how it will be before this changes? :| ?:|

Tax, tax, and more tax. And people wonder why I have no time for this totally corrupt government.

Just to say that I was told by the Napit Inspector that removed components can be left for the customer to dispose of or you can charge for removal in your price, but you need a transfer licence to pop it in your van even to take it to another place to throw it in a skip on another job.

I think you can download a waste policy from NAPIT, pay more money to the government and get a lovely bit of s**t paper in return for the privilage !!

I also love the minimum charge at the local tip

Just a little question on this one for Apache, if you do a farm visit and you use various materials in th line of your work , be it plastic sheeting or something along those lines , do you get the customer to dispose of or do you take it back to be destroyed ? If taken back do you need a waste carriers licence ?? After all it is trade waste .

Leave it on the farm.

Farmers bring us empty drug bottles and needles back that we dispose of through our [hazardous/pharmaceutical] waste.

No idea. No price on the website
Ah, just wondered. I have a regular client in town in a very small rented office (single room about 15 x 8 ft. plus smaller kitchen & W.C.), and apparently the council wanted to charge them some silly amount like
