Hi Guys n Girls,

Just had phone call from Freestart about building me a website, i've googled it and found no scam pages linked to it, their website looks very professional.

I was wondering if anyone had some knowledge of them , needless to say after all the calls ive had trying to part me from some money i wouldnt purchase over the phone, so i would be doing all via their web pages.

I've read another thread here about wether website is worth the cost and am still undecided atm, only just setting up so money is finely spread, but thinking of getting one when funds allow.

Basically the Q is - is this call another scam?

PS passed my assessement with elecsa today ,over the moon is an understatement Guinness

Why not ask them if they have any recent websites they have designed they can give you the details of and you give them a quick ring [don't tell the company you will ring!]?

How much money do they want and can you pay at the end when you are happy?

There are different types of sites and makes sure that YOU own it and preferably you can edit things if you want [content management]

FWIW, we had a site with Freestart, only problem was that we obviously had to send them the content, which is tha hard part!

So I decided after a while just to use their online content management system and build the site myself as I could afford the time to.

A bit expensive that way but other than that nothing adverse to report about them from my point.

Thanks for the responses, i'm going to leave it a while before a site, my brother is dab hand with things like that but its getting him off his bum to do it.

Anyone had possible spam call claiming they are from NHS trust or am i being too untrusting about all these calls?

It is always good to be aware that all calls are eventually going to cost you money. The art is knowing if that money is going to be spent in your favour.

Just to give you a idea of how much traffic you might get...

I built my website on 29th September 2009 and I've had

634 unique visitors

1017 visits

1725 page views

Most of those are linked in from here, but some do come from other referencing sites and I come up really well on google searches.

As for how much business it's brought me... that's really difficult to quantify as you can't tell where people got your number from or if they've seen your printed ad or van and then checked you out further on the internet.. the turnover for these could be

I got my website free from http://www.gbbo.co.uk Not a scam or anything like that.

It's run by BT, and you get your own domain name for free, easy to set up, although fairly basic, but still better than nothing. You need a google account (easy to set up). I only had one phone call about a week after setting it up, asking if I was happy.

Did it all in an hour or so one evening, and lots of mates have done the same.

www.jk-elec.co.uk needs abit more work!
