Ladies and Gentlemen......

and Deke's and Canoe's.........

Possibly Barx's but most certainly not KME's or Manator's cuz they .....

well... they are just Manators and KME's......

Anyway...

only 3 days left of this year..

so time to think.......

What are your predictions for 2012??????

anything at all.. work, leisure, media, sport.... etc.. etc...

What do you think is going to happen next year?

1/ Team GB at the Olympics will underperform..

But there will be one or two individual members who will surprise even the best sport pundits

I predict it will go down hill and the government will mess this country up more and make it harder for us to make a living

I won't be much use here chaps. I follow no sport so have no idea about football, etc. Very rarely watch t.v. and when I do it's pre-recorded (V+) programs of the wifes' so know very little about media and current affairs. Work wise, I will re-wire many sh!t-hole council houses and still not be qualified by this time next year because I can't afford it and the boss wont help in any way :S. I already have a list of weekend work to get through once I'm back at it (been forced by wife to not do any for last couple of months due to panic attacks and heart issues but it hasn't really achieved anything as I've been just as stressed and anxious with everyone asking when I can do this and that and can I do it sooner etc.) I predict someone else off here will ask me to do them a logo and/or website ;) which to be honest is a good thing as it keeps my mind ticking and gives me purpose in life (something I'm struggling to gain at the moment (sorry for bringing this down, trying not to lol)). I'm hoping in the new year I will have rid my anxiety and depressive state but as of yet there seems to be no light, hard work ahead.

I predict I will finally rooot and install a custom rom on my android phone, oh wait, did that other day and wiped all my contacts (and backups failed) lol. Now running cyanogen mod, whoop whoop.

I am seriously worried what will turn of the country, and world for that matter, with regards to recession, et al. One thing we need to remember is it's not just us that is in this situation. Much of the world seems to be in the same dire position. If I still have all my family, a job, house and little debt this time next year, I will be a happy man.

Greece changes back to a separate new currency, Spain Portugal & Ireland fall further into recession/trouble and full Euro falls apart leaving just France & Germany using it. We win 3 gold medals at olympics, Cameron/Clegg announce split and a general election with no government with overall control, more british soldiers die needlessly in countries we have no business being there and not even knowing who the enemy are. More politicians found to have fiddled their expenses, Murdoch (News Corp) charged and facing court, UK go back into recession, bankers earn bigger bonuses, banks bailed out again by government due to losses on eurobond, taxes rise, VAT up to 22.5%, budgets cut and huge strikes by public workers, massive increases in immigration to UK, Blair makes even more money and earns Nobel peace prize for contributing to peace in the world, Cherie gets richer, all food prices increase by 20-30%, mass riots by unemployed, Energy prices increase by 30% (again), Paula Radcliffe wins silver in Olympics, I pass my electricans course and 17th edition but can't get work as electricity is so expensive nobody can afford repairs/alterations. Comet hits one of the big oceans and 4m lost lives. I win

A few more high street names will go out of business before the end of the tax year. But Tesco's will buy some of them for a nominal

I predict rather sadly, 2012 will be another year of recession.

Collapse of the Euro looks inevitable. I wish the politicians would realise that and get on with an orderly dismantling of the Euro so they can salvage something. But I fear, they will carry on in hope, and by so doing make the fallout from the eventual collapse worse. It stand to reason that if EVERY country is too much in debt, then they can't ALL be bailed out. Just admit the debt is too great and default on the payments. Then get on with living within your means.

I don't think the economy will "recover" until people get used to living without credit. Apart from a mortgage (paid off well ahead of schedule) I have always lived like that, and am now reaping the rewards of that strategy.

My workload for the new year now looks rather thin. The run up to Christmas was busy enough, but only just. Usually I have so much work at this time of year I have to prioritise, but not this time, all my jobs got finished before Christmas with none spilling over.

I'm not too worried because my personal circumstances mean I don't have to (or indeed want to) work full time, but I do need some work to do, I'm not yet in that happy position of not needing to work at all.

At some point I want to be able to sell one or both of my rental properties, but fear the housing market is in such a dire state, with virtually nothing selling, that it will now be another 10 years before it will be possible to put a property on the market and sell it reasonably quickly. I just hope it doesn't take longer than 10 years, or it will delay my retirement plans.

2012 is of course the year of the Olympics, which for me, just means there will probably be the best part of a month with nothing worth watching on the tv. Sorry, that type of sport holds little interest for me.

I just hope we have a good year weather wise, by that I mean dry, with light and predictable winds. If I'm going to have more free time, I want to get out on my boat more.

I DO think it's a good time to be self employed. If I were an employee, I would be fearful of losing my job and not finding another one, and so having no income. At least being self employed, if things slow down, you will have less work, but it's unlikely you will have no work at all.

At least with nobody buying houses at the moment, the rental sector is healthy and my rental income has gone up on the last change of tenant.

Whatever your fortunes, I hope 2012 does not hurt you too much, and hope it's not as bad as my predictions.

Ony 1 year and 3 months before I can start drawing the first of my company pensions. So I'm praying that particular company doesn't go under, as that may scupper that plan.

Happy New Year Guys All the Best

I'll bet with your middle class roots and a background of going to school with a guy called Oswald your gonna call him Harold!
How did you guess ? There will be some middle class kids in it too , they will go about solving crimes , five of them , and they will become quite famous ,always having adventures, scoffing cucumber sandwiches with lashings of ginger beer.

I do like the idea of that Dave, last year was useless (although I've still to finish repairing my GP14: O) .. What boat BTW?

Barx , listen and listen good , you must make time for you and yours , as the lead character in "Saturday Night Sunday Morning " said " All the rest is propaganda" .

OK you need to do a days work but you need also to stop and smell the flowers .

I've seen guys pushed into working 7 days a week 12 hours a day , its gotta be done-- its gotta be done was the mantra .......well if its that important perhaps the boss will get off his fat ***** and give a hand , and of course , pigs will be flying in formation overhead.

Chill out man , or your health will suffer and its not worth it , times are hard at the moment and I don't think Britain will ever be the same again TBH ( we used to be the world's 3rd largest economy , now we're the 7th) but remember that in living memory ,working people were queueing at soup kitchens , Welsh miners were being ripped off by mine owners and worked in the worst conditions and treated like pit ponies .

So it could be worse , could be a Labour government .

There was a brief spell of prosperity in the 60's with unemployment way down but it was mishandled and wasted by the Labour Gov. and their masters ,the unions .

Small recession , then prosperity again , fortunes made under the Thatcher Gov. unions brought under control , then another spell of Labour with less and less spendable income in your pocket .

Next year ??? Anything could happen TBH Bloody Argies are rattling their sabres again, but while there,s oil in that 200mile protected zone we will sacrifice another couple of Sir Galahad,s defending it .

Consider myself told :Salute

As I mentioned above, I don't really follow news as it just stresses me out more and I worry what if? So alot of what you said up there ^^^^^ I have no idea what your on about. Who/What are argies? I'm assuming there is a big oil field somewhere and nobody is allowed to touch it. Why is it protected and who owns it?

Wife keeps telling me that she prefers labour gov. as they are more for the working class. Though as far as I can see, they gave working class monies that they, as a gov. didn't have. Is that right?

Work wise, the weekend work is not for company I work for. It's side jobs that I do to top up the wages which on there own don't quite cover the bills. First time ever over drawn this week. -

This one. A frolic 18 sailing boat (a make almost nobody has ever heard of) Built in 1983 by a boatbuilder in Poole. We've owned her for just over a year, so are still pretty much novice sailors.

Nice, a cabin cruiser!,,,,a little bigger than my GP14;)
"Cabin Cruiser" is something I associate with rivers. But my little boat is far too small to describe as a Yacht. Some call it a "Dinghy with a lid"

We wanted something that should keep us dry. Capsizing, which is something you virtually expect to do in a dinghy, is not on our agenda. Even when we've got things badly wrong in the early days of learning, she's only heeled over at about 45 degrees and we still remained dry.

I theory it can sleep 4, but 3 would be more realistic, and unusual for such a small boat it has a proper loo compartment (sorry heads)
