Darren's Frequently Asked Questions

Question:

As an NICEIC Competent Persons Scheme (CPS) registered firm am I required to issue Building Regulation Compliance certificates when I have undertaken notifiable work?

Answer:

YES – And as part of your annual assessment we need to check that you are complying with Regulation 20 of the Building Regulations 2010 which applies to England & Wales.

DCLG require us to have systems in place to ensure that our CPS registered firms can and do notify all jobs carried out under the scheme.

All jobs carried out under the scheme must be notified to us within 25 days of completion to allow us to process them and provide the occupier with the Buildings Regulation Compliance certificate, as well as informing the relevant local authority on your behalf.

so that has cleared a lot of confusion, just saying

well since its the homeowners responsibility to ensure compliance with part pee, then that answer is wrong since he (or she, we dont discriminate here) is not required to...

Arghhhh, but the point of the scam membership is that the responsibility is removed from the  home owner to the spark.

Otherwise the scans would be without members?!

Oh! Isn't that why we have part p qualifications? So the home owner can, if they feel so inclined to do so, take these courses and then self certify?
And quite a lot do take these 5 week courses and join a scam,

And then think they can undertake works in other peoples homes, they even charge them for their diy fkups,!!!!
