****OOPS I POSTED IN THE WRONG FORUM****

So the job was referred by our plumber who was installing a gas hob and tested the socket with his martindale and nee earth.

customer is one of the non paying variety (even at our rates) "well it all works perfectly why should I pay to fix it?"

customer also said it was like that when I got here which makes me think she got some Poor bugger off the streets to do it. The CCU has been moved from one side of the wall to the other and the earthing has been disregarded.

Other than pulling in a new cable is there another way round it?

Danger notice and leave them to it IMHO

You can't force someone to have work carried out that they don't want,,, however your plumber mate should consider that he shouldn't fit the hob as there isn't a suitable electric supply

Thread moved. As suggested if customer does not want to pay then just disconnect offending cable, make safe, issue danger warning notice and go to the next job. The customer may well just reconnect it themselves later, but that is not your responsibility or problem, providing you have done all that was reasonable within your authority.

Doc H.

Thanks Doc :)

dunno how I managed to post this in The sponsors area? :|

no doubt there will be a complaint to social services so I will probably have to rectify it. :( Just wondering if there is an easier way other than pulling a new cable in? 6mm between the CCU and the condi? A large nail?

It's all in condi and there are no sockets on that side of the kitchen. there is a poorly installed boiler spur which is utilising the gas and water as an earth I assume!

as for the rod is all concrete :(

Just advise, edn & move on, you can not legally disconnect without the customers permission.

However, if you has already disconnected to do works, then you can't legally re-comnnect the dangerous circuit.

is the conduit earthed? Perhaps a bonding clamp on the conduit with some 4mm into the CCU? you could put some trunking around the wires too

Yup its still earthed but buried in the wall thought getting a clap on with a good connection might be rather difficult?

Yet another issue is what the old water tanks sat on, that steel frame below the CCU is everywhere and there is also a boiler in there!

I wish people wouldn't mess with stuff its a bit like DIY in industrial, always ends badly.

Sort of, its ex council, a real mess tbh. :(

The CCU is in the room where the water tanks used to be housed on the other side of the wall to the kitchen.

The washing machine was connected to the CCU via a socket and 0.75mm flex arrangement.

The board is a wylex rewirable skeleton in a mantel unit.

Your entire photobucket account is wide open for the world to view, all your albums and photos from baby pictures to Andalucia. It might be advisable to tie it down somewhat to make it more private.

Thanks Marvo, Deke.

I knew I was wide open wasn't really bothered tbh, I don't upload anything thats "private" just a load of nonsense really, but point taken and folders now should be locked?

Honestly I'm more concerned about photobuckets T&C's and the "tesco" ads more than anything! :yellow card

I know there are others on here that do the same.

Tend not to use more reply options as it costs the forum bandwidth and the subs will go up  :slap
