International soccer teams FINED by the FIFA  for wearing the poppy in November.       That is a disgrace .   On the plus side I learned that the England players always donate their international fees to charity .

Rightly so they discourage political displays from teams but there is nothing political about the Poppy and what it represents.

England  £3500

Scotland £1500

Wales    £1500

NI           £1200

ROI  were fined £4000 for something about the Easter Rising  which I suppose , is a political statement.

What next !!!  Birmingham City FC  remembering those killed in the Pub bombings in 1974.

I hardly think that FIFA are in a position to set out such fines..... Let alone apply then.

I think the 4 countries should ignore then and give the money to the poppy appeal next year.

Wearing poppies is not making a political statement, it's about remembering the people who have died.

Just saying

At the moment I hate this country, sorry but I do, Manchester wanted to host the World Expo, London said no because the costs would spiral, it didn't matter when London hosted the Olympics, There was a fund to provide flood defenses for the whole country, despite getting hit with hardly any flooding, London spent most of the money, Immigration is out of control, the government wants to stick them all over the country, except London,There are cutbacks everywhere, except seemingly London, you can drive around certain areas and not see one police car, drive around London and there seems to be one on every corner. Tbh I'd like to blow a large gorge around that area and let them become an Independant  country, and see how they get on then.

@phil d I am currently in London and I can assure you there is more than the fair share of immigrants here, maybe that's why there's so many police??

But I agree the country, no the politicians and money people have ruined this land!

Sorry mate but there are plenty immigrants here, you also neglect the fact that everything costs more in London despite all the cheap immigrant labour.

I hardly see police in my area despite the obvious drug problems unless they are going for breakfast in the cafe round the corner.

I work on some of the most deprived estates in London and never ever see police patrols.

I think the amount of cctv has something to do with it!

Over 10% of the population live here in what's a relatively small area so it may look unfair but if you take account of the density then it starts to even out a bit.

Try living here for a bit and you will realise just how unfair things are.

The only things that are more expensive in London is the cost of housing and the coffee shops are inflated prices, generally say to say living isn't that much different in my experience.

Why didn't I think of that ?  :C

In a way I understand where FIFA are coming from ,  try not to think of Germany turning up at Wembley wearing swastika  arm bands .  But nothing wrong with poppies .

nothing wrong with poppies

To you maybe, but you have to say that if FIFA were to allow any sort of statement then they would have to say what is right and wrong, and that isn't up to them so it is easier to just apply a blanket rule. It all seems to have been blown out of all proportion just because the majority disagree with the decision.

The whole world is full of lettuced at the moment. I especially hate the liberals and the elites who it seems hate everything British and try to water down our history and values. The BBC are a disgrace. Its about time this country grew some balls and got on with things that are good for its own people. As for FIFA what a disgrace and typical of elitist thinking

Corrected that for you.

It's strange isn't it, the majority think there's nothing wrong with a poppy and its blown out of proportion. The majority voted to leave the EU and we're all wrong and there's a great debacle of a debate.

And amazingly it's always the minority that succeeds, you've got to admit that's some weird democracy going on there?

Strangely enough though,

The Poppy isn't a British 'thing'

It's only democratic if the majority of the voters aren't complete morons who have no clue what is happening. Basically nothing is democratic.
