Well, what I meant was the voters are just random morons so really our "democracy" is more akin to who has the best propaganda and/or a coin toss.

The general public were included.

Is your real name Nick Clegg?

If you want to "blame" anyone at a Political level, look no further than all the career politicians who haven't got a clue how most of us work and live....

Hum... not sure.... he comes over as one the elite these days who think THEY are the ONLY ones that know best.... the world as viewed from their IVORY tower....

So why refer to voters as "random morons"?

I misread your other reply.

I wasn't singling anyone out, the whole thing is a mess. The general public are mostly inept and stupid, hence the random morons comment.

That's slightly less offensive than referring to the population as "random morons"

Thing is who can we trust these days to tell us the truth? I struggle most of the time TBH.....

If that's your view of the general public what echelon do you belong to?

ROI  were fined £4000 for something about the Easter Rising  which I suppose , is a political statement.
How can you say one is political and the other isn't. It was 100 years since the rising. It was a memorial emblem on the jersey saying 1916-2016.  No more a call to arms than a poppy really.

it happen here, I got a warning this year for changing my avatar to the Easter Lilly, lucky its not the FIFA I could not afford the fine

Another thing about democracy worth debating is , as someone once said,   in a general election say , we have  in theory , 20 million people who always vote Labour ....20 million people who always vote Conservative   ....and a small minority whose vote floats between them until they have made a considered judgement before casting their votes to Red or Blue .    It is said that these people are the ones who change governments  . Show Reply

I hardly think that FIFA are in a position to set out such fines..... Let alone apply then.

I think the 4 countries should ignore then and give the money to the poppy appeal next year.

Wearing poppies is not making a political statement, it's about remembering the people who have died.

Just saying

I detest football but I do like your idea Murdoch.

Or sellouts.
or maybe we vote for and against various things because we don't really have anyone to vote for that truly represents what we think, believe and feel.

FIFA has been 'a power' for decades, hence it has become corrupt. Any government in power for longs periods of time also tends to become corrupt. I tend to vote for the option I think will do least damage to the UK.

As for the general public, too many take no interest in politics cos' it's boring, hence never get represented and wonder why they get shafted. Politicians are always going to chase votes, it's the only way they can possibly get elected to try and make changes they believe in. I would not describe all politicians as corrupt and useless, many have good principles and the desire to do good for their constituants, you just don't tend to hear about these so much on the media, unless they get murdered.
