Hi all,

Any suggestion on a decent ratchet crimp ( at a sensible cost) , i used another electricians today and it was loads better than the one i have. But it had no name on it, he said he'd had it for years and could not remember.

I also own a CK ratchet crimper, It's great for general use. I have a TycoAmp crimper that's also very good, it can be calibrated but it's expensive (about USD 350). I would suggest you avoid the no-name brands they're generally nasty.

Our ratchet crimping tools are really very high quality - we tested them to 40,000 cycles and guarantee them for 30,000 cycles

For insulated terminals Google CK 430021 - There are lots of listings ranging from about £26 upwards.

I paid £20 for some bog standard own brand ones from a large retailer

I'd have got the good ones for the extra few quid.

I`ve currently got the SWA ones - but I`m going to have change `em soon - the ratchet is sticking closed. Nothing worse!!!

CK - I`ll have a look at yours ;)

For insulated red, blue, yellowstThe firm gave me a set of Roebuck ones = every time you crimp anything one of the handles slide off! Instead I use a £20 ratchet set bought from the boot fair about 15 years ago, Laser brand maybe? Cheap as chips but they do a good crimp and I've never had an issue tbh. Still nice and tight etc.

For bootlace ferrules I swear by my Pressmaster one though!
