i always have used tysoft easycert for certs.. i now have a new computer and they will not let me swap it over unless i buy a new licensee for around £80.00 plus vat

what software do any of you use and recommend ?

purely because of stuff like that, i have no intention of using them. that and since i work between 2 computers (home & office), that would require 2 licences.

best just using 7671 model forms and printing them

that is correct but my old laptop had a smashed screen so i couldn't unlicense it. he then gave me a new one when i got my new laptop but that had a memory fault that i had to take back to the shop, they then gave me a new laptop witch i didnt unliencse it.

I have had the same problem, last time they were very good and let me re licence my laptop. This time I just have not asked. I prefer a disk so that I can use my software where I want to. I dropped my lappy and had to have a new hard drive fitted have my back ups recovered but now no easy cert and 4 EIC's waiting to be completed.

Unless anything is or can be done with Tysoft then I am sorry but I will be going with Amtech.

correct me if I am wrong. But when you buy media/software it is legally assigned to the user not the pc?

Like when you buy a CD, you legally shouldn't lend it out to other people as you have bought the right to listen to the music and they haven't the CD is just the format in which you are listening to it. The same applies to your easy cert. Your PC is the format you a using to use the software. I can see their point but I think legally you could be in the right.

I use PIR form which you can have on two computers not sure about transferring it though as I haven't needed too at the moment.

I beta tested this software, I still get updates but have actually never used the software apart from the beta test

big fan of easycert but was furious recently when my ipad would no longer let me email certs as my customer care package has expired. so without the customer care package the mobile stuff is useless. Will still renew it but certainly renew but wasnt happy and was standing in front of the customer who wanted the cert!

Its easy to transfer Tysoft over to a new pc, to do this you have to go to the Help menu then registration wizard, Tick un activate from and follow the instructions. I would also do a back up of your database on to a usb stick first then you can import all your records on to your new computer O) hope this helps

Seeing all this hassle of transferring and sharing problems, and then you say it's "cheap at only £75 per year"

Well for £75 per year I would expect decent customer support and help when you have trouble like you are having. After all, you have now paid for something that you can't use.

You have just convinced me to stick to my editable model forms that I can edit, share, print or do with as I please for £nil per year and no silly restrictions.
